If you’ve been into the salon this month or if you saw this quarter’s newsletter, you know we’ve been celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month in a couple of different ways. That means this week is your last chance to join us in the cause…
First, we’ve been collecting donations for the charity Hair To Stay. While the strength of spirit required to battle cancer ultimately comes from within, for a woman to keep her own real hair is an added way to fight through the painful and taxing process of chemotherapy.
A new technology–scalp cooling caps–has been created to prevent hair loss caused by chemotherapy, but it is still developmental and therefore not covered by insurance. Hair To Stay partners with salons, spreading the word and raising funds to subsidize the cost of cooling caps for women who otherwise could not afford to keep their hair during their fight against breast cancer.
Help us give this gift by raising money for a cooling cap! The donation jar is on our front counter. Plus, every dollar you give enters your name in a drawing for a free 60-minute spa service!
Additionally, this year Aveda has created a special edition Hand Relief moisturizing crème. Look for it in the pink Breast Cancer Awareness bottle—each one you purchase donates $5 to cruelty-free cancer research. This star product hydrates, exfoliates, softens, and for a limited time comes in Aveda’s Shampure aroma—a calming mix including bergamot, lavender, and ylang ylang.
So stop by this week for one last chance to join us in celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month. Honor those who have passed, and give hope to those who still fight…this month and moving forward.
